I discussed about neutralising pit and basic of ABO and AC cleaning in PART -I . I discussed
about neutralising pit because it remains unnoticed at site and only required during commissioning
time. If this is not made properly then land pollution will happen which may draw the attention of
statutory authorities and villagers surrounded the plant area. Instances are available that the project
work remain shutdown for indefinite period for this reason.
The next major requirement is pumping station and its accessories. One may require 03 to
05 numbers of pumps depends upon their requirement and conditions of the pump. It is
expected that pump will get damaged during acid operation with HCL . If other method
( EDTA) is adopted then chance of damage is minimum. Therefore one has to design a
temporary foundation and location for carrying out the same . If there is two unit then
location will be between the two units depending upon plant lay out. Finished Level of
temporary foundation should be 100 mm below the Finished level of that area. One ABO and AC
cleaning is over then the temporary foundation will be buried in the ground.
We have seen 200T/hr flow and 200MWC pressure pump is sufficient for this purpose. However
valves, pipelines , flanges etc are needed. For electrical a local station can be made near the
station with DOL starter. I have seen motor capacity is approximately 90 KW. Two Tanks
can be fabricated at site with the help excess CW pipe lines . Out of two bigger one ( mixing
tank will be near the pump and other one will be on the boiler floor ( any floor above 8 M).
