On the left hand side the picture shows the "batching plant" for civil works. This plant was introduced to Indian market in last thirty years. At first it was introduced to very large projects by foreign multinational company but now -a -days after Chinese Batching plant availability this is become a must equipment for any civil contractor. Batching plant of different capacity is available in the market . The size denotes in metre cube of concrete production per hour. There different type also i.e manual , semi automatic ,automatic with computerised control.
There are few major advantages of using Batching Plant in the project.
A. Achieve more production than manuals.
B. Can feed number of castings at a time.
C. The most important part is to maintain quality of concrete to the maximum as specified in the standards.
D. Periodic in built review system for production of concrete.
E. To keep the plant area clean the batching plants are located outskirts of the plant area.
F. We require two big batching plant and a small one to cater the project
We will come to the 2nd picture afterwards but we will discuss the third picture before hand. This is a picture which reminds me the failure of the machine to utilise fully to its capacity. The machine is the picture of hydraulic pile breaker machine. It is used to break the excess length of the pile .
If you know how to drive a pile then you should know that there will be excess length of pile available after excavation of land . You can refer the picture 2 a typical area boiler area after piling and excavation. The next activity is removal of extra pile length and expose the reinforcement for rafting or pedestal.
In general Pile head are broken by pneumatic chisel and manual hammer and chisel by construction worker. It takes time as because there are a few thousand pile head has to be broken . Civil vendor brought this machine to site to reduce the timing but I have not seen it working because none of the fault of the machine but process did not allow it work. The machine has to be put on pile head and its
hydraulic unit to be kept in the bottom. This can only to be achieved if can be put by a crane as there is no area at (-) level to manoeuvre crane . ( please refer picture 2). The hard surface the crane can stand is far away as excavation of the total area was done . Mass excavation is all time advantageous than do it part by part. But use of this machine is only possible if excavation would have been done in a pattern so that hard surface is all time available near the pile. That is why the machine was not in use. Other wise crane 150MT/250MT capacity with bigger boom is required to transport the machine from one place to another.
That is why before going for new machine it is utmost important that all the aspect including a small one also may be analysed then press into service then rate of failure will be less otherwise spending so much money it remain idle. We need a discussion on this subject from the blog followers of developing countries to the problem i.e . how to break pile head in minimum time.
Please refer 2nd picture one number 40 MT gantry crane is shown. This is commonly used in pre fabrication yard for steel, prefabrication and assembly of column, and trasportation of the fabricated column from one place to another.
